We talk to Samantha Davison about the community events G.J McDonald & Co Real Estate have been involved in..

Geelong Kokoda Youth Program

McDonald Real Estate are proud to announce we now sponsor the Geelong Kokoda Youth Program .  The program gives the at-risk teens the opportunity to share a life-changing experience through positive interaction with role models in the community.  Each year, 14 youths from local schools are selected to take part in the 10-month program. So far, 61 young people have completed the program with a 100 per cent success rate, they have returned to school or gained employment, further higher education or alternative education.  Samantha Davison is the fortunate person from McDonald Real Estate who will be attending the trek this year.

Geelong Kokoda Youth Program- Ladies High Tea

To raise money for the Geelong Kokoda Youth Program, McDonald Real Estate have organised a Ladies High Tea, details as follows:

Kids Plus Race Day

The Kids Plus Race Day was a success with approx. 130 people attending and $6,500 being raised. Everybody enjoyed this special day filled with some great activities such as an Auction, wine tasting, beer tasting, massages and a beauty station. Dazzling Dan the magician made an appearance just after the Vigorella Fashion show. We were able to premier the new Kids Plus Video which you can view on the kids plus website

The races were a great focal point with many guests putting in bets. We even managed to get a few recommended tips from seasoned horse racing enthusiasts. The Auction conducted by our very own Michael Brennan went smoothly with both items being sold including one voucher worth $500 sold for $500. This event will be held each year so if you’re interested in being a part of the fun then contact us to secure your seat or table for next year.

Sleep Out 2014

Earlier this year Samantha Davison mentioned one of her goals would be to participate in a sleep out. After doing some research into the many sleep outs in Victoria we decided to organise our very own here in Geelong. Our vision was to get friends and family involved and see what it would be like to have to sleep like this every night. After registering team G.J McDonald & Co on the Mission Australia website we were asked to set a fundraising goal. Immediately I thought $100, I wanted an achievable goal after all we wanted the night to be a success and we didn’t think we would get much money for sleeping! We discussed this with our team and thought why not go for it! So our goal was $1000. By the time the sleep out came around we were up to $500. We were so excited to be receiving such support and couldn’t believe the donations kept flowing in. Then on the night we raised another $425 giving us an overall total of $925 for our efforts. We were so grateful to see all those who supported us and who continue to support our community projects.
